COUNTRIES
(52 WORD TO PRACTICE)

About the Topic: Countries

Countries are large areas of land where people live under one government, speak different languages, and have their own cultures, food, and traditions. Learning the names of countries in English helps students talk about where they are from and learn more about the world.

Every country has a flag, a capital city, and a language. For example:

  • Turkey – Capital: Ankara – Language: Turkish

  • England – Capital: London – Language: English

  • Japan – Capital: Tokyo – Language: Japanese

  • France – Capital: Paris – Language: French

We use the question “Where are you from?” to ask about someone’s country. The answer is “I’m from…” For example, “I’m from Turkey,” or “I’m from Italy.”
Learning about countries helps us understand geography, cultures, and people from different parts of the world. It also helps students use nationalities like Turkish, English, French, or Japanese correctly in sentences.

Benefits of the BoomWords Game

The BoomWords Game is an exciting way to practice country names! The teacher says the topic “countries,” and students take turns saying different country names: “Turkey,” “France,” “Japan,” “Brazil,” etc. If someone repeats a country or cannot think of one, they must say “Boom!” and sit down.

This game helps students:

  • Remember country names easily.

  • Think quickly and pronounce names correctly.

  • Learn about different places around the world.

  • Stay active and have fun while practicing vocabulary.

Teachers can also use a world map or flags during the game so students can point and say the country names out loud.
